Re: The Da Vinci Code!!!

OK, I just downloaded and watched this movie last night... it was pretty friggin' good. But I haven't read the book yet...usually when I see a good movie and then read the book after, I'm disappointed later when I find out that the movie didn't cover key points of the book... So after I read the book is when I can make my real critique of the movie.

My overall dislike for organized religion, particularly Christianity, remained the same, i.e. it wasn't influenced negatively or positively by the ideas presented within this movie - although I was intrigued by certain aspects of the story, which I will research myself.

Character reviews: That Opus Dei albino dude was a freak. So was Gandalf. And that Amelie chick was hot - I'd hit it. I didn't like Leon's (the Professional) character in this movie. Tom Hanks was alright, as usual...

I predict this movie will do good becuase there's nothing as good out there right now. And with all the controversy that Christian drama-queens like to create, it'll no doubt make tons of cash.

Really? I didn't think it was that good. Of course, I read the book first. I enjoyed the book but the movie seemed lacking in comparison.

Plus Hank's hair was...well, icky (just my opinion.)

I liked Gandalph's character of Teabing. I thought he did a great job.

I recommend the book. Much more suspense and details that were just over-looked/left out in the movie.

At Cannes, Sir Ian was asked which film he liked better that he had out at the same time, X-Men 3, or Davinci Code. His reply was, "Lord of the Rings".

Hehehe...

The nature of the DaVinci Code book with all of the information it gives you could never be put into the movie, and that was what made teh book good.

Loved the book and really enjoyed the movie-which came as a suprise to me...but I hate, HATED the movie's ending as compared to the book...which means I guess I did not like the movie??

Yeah for LotR! I agree that the detail(s) of the book would make it very difficult to bring to film...I wouldn't spend my money on a full ticket price. For those who have the Smith's grocery stores around, Smith's is having a sale of Monty Python's Holy Grail 2 disc delux special edition set and with purchase comes a free Da Vinci Code ticket. Can't beat that!

And that Python deal sounds good! Except I have the LAST special edition (with 7 seconds of added footage!!) and I don't have that grocery store near me! :rubharb:

Geo, I've never even heard of that store, but what a great deal!

Is Smith's regional (or is it more of a national chain)? We discussed that Sonic isn't everywhere (such a shame!) Can one have too many Python Grail's? ;)
